Editing poetry: elevator

Apparently we are entering a new period in my writing. If each period was a girl this one would be called Shayna. It means ‘beautiful’ in Yiddish I think, maybe it indicates some time when I was writing purely for the beauty of the words.

security camera
high-speed rewind
you pull me away
from the wall
remove your lips from mine
we peel towards each other
wind life onto the spool
down-up elevator

pause.
in the expanse between
seven and
eight
is an infinity of fractions

fast forward
we cling 24 seconds per second
eight storey urgency
four times a day
we multiply divide
in small deceits
eight hours
suspended on cables
strung like washing
between worlds
